The 6th Batch Basic Search and Rescue Training started at Tashigatshel, Chhukha.

The Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management (DLGDM) is pleased to announce the commencement of the 6th Batch Basic Search and Rescue Training, which began today and will run for 14 days until January 19, 2025. This essential training program is being held at the National Search and Rescue Training Centre (NSARTC) in Tashigatshel, Chhukha, with the participation of 52 dedicated Dessup (Guardians of Peace) trainees.

The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including the Commandant of NSARTC, the Officer Commandant of Tsimasham, the Chief Planning Officer of Dessung Headquarters, Captain of Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre (YDRC), Tsimasham. Their presence signifies the importance of this training initiative in enhancing the search and rescue capabilities of our courageous Dessup participants.
The training program organized by the DLGDM, funded by the European Union, aims to equip the Dessup with vital skills and knowledge in basic search and rescue operations, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond to disasters and emergency situations effectively. This initiative reflects the commitment of the DLGDM and its partners to promote safety and preparedness within our communities.

Upon successful completion of the training, 30 selected Dessup will have the opportunity to attend the India-Bhutan Youth Friendship Camp at the Officer Training Academy in Gaya, India. This camp aims to foster youth engagement between NCC Cadets from India and Dessup from Bhutan, further strengthening friendship and collaboration between our nations.
The DLGDM extends its heartfelt gratitude to the European Union for their generous support and to all dignitaries and participants for their commitment to this vital cause. We look forward to the fruitful outcomes of this training and subsequent engagements that will enhance our disaster management efforts.
