Four-day Disaster Risk Management (DRM) training for Gewog Administrative Officers (GAOs) from 13th to 16th January 2025 in Phuentsholing, Chhukha

The Department of Local Governance & Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, is currently conducting a four-day Disaster Risk Management (DRM) training for Gewog Administrative Officers (GAOs) from 13th to 16th January 2025 in Phuentsholing, as part of the World Bank-funded "Strengthening Risk Information for Disaster Resilience in Bhutan" project. The training aims to enhance the GAOs' capacity to manage disaster risks effectively, develop contingency plans, and foster collaboration among stakeholders.

Key Objectives:
Capacity Building: Equip GAOs with skills in disaster management and climate resilience.

Action Plan Development: Assist in creating disaster management and contingency plans for gewogs.

Strengthening Partnerships: Promote coordination between gewogs, dzongkhags, and national agencies.

This initiative empowers GAOs as frontline responders to strengthen disaster preparedness at the gewog level.
