Four Days Disaster Risk Management Training for Female Tshogpas (21-24 January 2025)

The Department of Local Governance & Disaster Management,  with the funding from the World Bank has conducted a four day training from 21st to 24th January 2024, on a Disaster Risk Management (DRM) training in Paro, Bhutan, targeting 32 female Tshogpas. The training aimed to strengthen their capacity in disaster preparedness, response, and mitigation, recognizing their crucial role in community resilience.

Key focus areas included:
Fire Safety Measures – Understanding fire hazards, safe handling, emergency evacuation, and hands-on fire extinguisher training.
Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) – Identifying local hazards, conducting risk assessments, and developing community contingency plans.
Anticipatory Action – Learning early warning systems, weather monitoring, and impact forecasting to mitigate disaster risks.

This initiative empowers female Tshogpas with critical knowledge and practical skills, enhancing their ability to safeguard their communities against potential disasters.
