Cross-Sectoral Consultation on LAPBED Governance Initiatives (20 June 2025 at Paro)

The Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management (DLGDM) convened a cross-sectoral consultation workshop on June 20, 2025, in Paro to deliberate on key challenges encountered in the planning and development of 13 ongoing projects under the Local Area Potential-Based Economic Development (LAPBED) Governance initiatives.

The primary objective of the workshop was to present project progress and collaboratively address emerging issues from the field. Through structured thematic group discussions, the participants were able to identify and propose practical solutions to challenges related to environmental clearance, forest clearance, and policy coherence across sectors.

The consultation brought together key stakeholders from relevant agencies, including the Office of Cabinet Affairs and Strategic Coordination, the Department of Planning, Budget and Performance, the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Labour, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE), Department of Forest and Park Services, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR), Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL), Land Management Division, National Land Commission Secretariat (NLCS), Department of Tourism, Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship, MoICE.

The workshop was made possible with the technical and financial support of the European Union through the LGDG Project. The collaborative platform provided an opportunity for stakeholders to align efforts, streamline procedures, and reinforce a shared commitment to sustainable local economic development through the LAPBED approach.
