Assessment of GECDP mainstreaming
The Department carried out a workshop in preparation to conduct an assessment of Gender, Environment, Climate change, Disaster, and Poverty (GECDP) mainstreaming in local government plans and programs.
This activity was initially started under the Joint Support Programme (JSP) over a decade ago and continued later through the Local Governance Sustainable Development Programme, with the aim of creating an enabling and level-playing field for local governments to foster self-reliance and equitable socio-economic development by mainstreaming their socio-economic development activities into policies, plans, and programmes.
GECDP mainstreaming is currently integrated into the EU budgetary support's DLG component and facilitated by the central level Mainstreaming Reference Group (MRG) that was instituted through an executive order from the Cabinet.
The assessment is expected to be carried out in the targeted Dzongkhag by November 2021.
