Video Documentation Of Community Engagement Platform

A video documentation of the Community Engagement Platform and it’s good practices is underway at the Dogaak community under Gozhi Gewog, Dagana. The filming assignment is outsourced to the Discovery Himalayas aimed at capturing the real field facets of community engagement in local governance.

Dogaak community has nine Community Engagement Platforms- community groups formed under the Strengthening of Community Engagement in Local Governance project implemented by the Department with technical support from JICA. It has an inspiring story for the rural countryside participatory governance; journey from an erstwhile dependent community to a community with self-reliance goal through active self-help and mutual-help initiatives. It has evolved from a resettlement community to a promising socially and culturally resilient community where ownership on public infrastructure and sustainability are cornerstone of the community values or ethos for collaborative development.

The video document will be finalized in a month’s time and shall be made accessible as resource materials for promoting people’s participation in governance and decision-making. The ultimate aim of CEP is to strengthen chiwog zomdu with long term focus of self-reliance and sustainable rural community.

The video documentation is supported by JICA Bhutan Office.
