Disaster Risk Reduction and Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Training for Dzongkhag and Thromde Disaster Management Officers.

As part of the World Bank-funded “Strengthening Risk Information for Disaster Resilience in Bhutan” project, the Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management (DLGDM) successfully conducted a Disaster Risk Reduction and Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) Training for Dzongkhag and Thromde Disaster Management Officers.
Held in Phuentsholing, Chhukha, from 18th to 28th November 2024, the 9-day training aimed to:

  • *Build capacity for newly appointed disaster focal points and refresh skills for the existing ones.
* Incorporate lessons learned and experiences into Disaster Management and Contingency Plans.
* Strengthen partnerships to enhance coordination and communication for effective disaster management.
* Provide First Aid and fire safety training to equip participants with essential emergency response skills.

This training marked a significant step in strengthening Bhutan’s disaster resilience and preparedness.
