The Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management (DLGDM), in collaboration with the Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag Administration, successfully conducted a two-day Simulation Exercise (SIMEX) in Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag, Dagana, from 23–24 April 2026.

The exercise aimed to familiarise participants with the Incident Command System (ICS), validate the Dungkhag Disaster Management and Contingency Plan (DMCP), and identify gaps in coordination, communication, and resource mobilisation during emergencies.

The programme featured both field simulations and tabletop sessions, bringing together key stakeholders, including the Incident Management Team (IMT), Royal Bhutan Police, Desuups, Emergency Medical Team, schools, the Bhutan Red Cross Society, and local volunteers. Participants worked collaboratively to respond to a simulated major earthquake scenario.

The Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Lhamoizingkha Dungkhag Administration and all participants for their active engagement and support in making the exercise a success.

DLGDM remains committed to strengthening disaster preparedness and building resilient communities through regular capacity-building initiatives and simulation exercises across the country.
